ルーディーにとっては「行かずしてGWが始まるか！」ってな感じのダウン・ビート・ルーラーですが、今年も大勢のお客さんが集まり大盛況でした。限りある枠内ではありますが、ささやかなレポートとお客さんのインタビュー、そして、スカ・フレイムスのメンバー数人にご協力いただき、フジに対するコメントと「もしフェスができるなら誰を呼びたい？」という質問をぶつけてきました。皆さん悩んでいましたが、きっちり5つ挙げていただきました。なにぶん妄想ですので、現役／解散／故人も問わず、中には贅沢すぎるユニットなんてのも……。さてさて、いったい誰に影響を受けたのでしょう？
根本にスカがある祭りとはいえども、お客さんそれぞれのルーツは様々。その変遷にいくらかの影響を与えたであろう、東京ディスコナイト・オールスターズとでも言いたくなるようなDJ陣が幕間を賑やかに繋ぎ、まっ昼間から夜のてっぺんにさしかかろうかという時間まで、オイ・スカルメイツやズート16、ロス・ランチェロスらが遊びと酒を知りつくしたライヴを繰り広げ、絶えず大騒ぎしていました。飲みすぎて転がる体もちらほらで……そこはやはりGWの始まりに大音量の音を浴びたということで、リミッターが解除されてしまったのでしょう。
さてさて、なぜDBRに来てしまうのか、そんな質問をお客さんにぶつけてみました。
「来るってのがまず先にあって。みんなで騒げるし」
「誰とでも仲良くなれて、そのうち一緒になって踊ってしまう」
「僕にとってはこれがGWの始まり」
「言葉だけでは魅力をうまく表すことができないなぁ。だから来るんだと思う」
と、しっかりアルコールを片手に持ちながら、くだけた感じで話してくれました。
この後は、楽屋へとお邪魔してインタビュー項目をひとしきり訊きました。影響を受けたアーティストを5つ、なんて質問する側は簡単なんですが、当人にすればなかなか絞れません。「うーん、ちょっと考えさせて……」と皆さん面白がりながらも、真剣に悩んでいました。そうこうしているうちに、チューニングに衣装替えと、楽屋がなにやら慌ただしくなってきました。そろそろか、とメインフロアへと進めばすでに熱気が充満。思いのたけを込めた”雨上がりの夜空に”の大合唱となっています。大貫憲章から小西康陽へとバトンが渡り、ブースの前では一升瓶をラッパ飲み。毎年目にする光景ではありますが、その減り方はやっぱり尋常じゃない。
いよいよ真打のスカ・フレイムスが登場し、興奮はピーク。乾いたドラミングに温もりあるベースライン、カッティングギターが冴え渡り、ホーン隊がニクいタイミングで割り込んできます。さらにはキーボードとパーカスが軽やかに舞い、リードギターにはブルーズが響いている。そして、すべてを包み込むようなヴォーカルが巡れば、酔いしれる。そのくせ、デビューから20年を経た今でも、なおルード・ボーイとして、不良な音を届けてくれます。”ストーレン・ビート”なんて、冒頭のトランペットがじらしにじらし、バンドの瞬発力でもって一気に駆けあがる。当然のように、最前列はてんやわんやのモッシュ状態ですし、少し下がれば、あちらこちらで重心の低さを競うモンキーダンスの輪が生まれています。とっておきのアンコールには”トーキョー・ショット”。デビュー以来、数々のフロアを揺らしてきた至極のナンバーが、長丁場の大宴会を締めくくりました。
そんなこんなで、終ってみれば予定を30分オーバー。ルードボーイはフラフラ、ヘラヘラと笑いながら帰路についたのでした。この続きは、苗場、そして年末恒例のクワトロ大忘年会で是非体験していただければ、と思います。なお、他にもライヴをするらしい、とのことなので、詳細はオフィシャルHPをチェックしてください。奄美皆既日食音楽祭とか、出ませんかねぇ？

ー毎回、独特のダンスで喝采を一身に受けているアキさんですが、あれはひょっとしてJBをならってなんでしょうか？ ともあれ、これほどライヴを楽しむ人はそうそういないんじゃないかと思います。共に奄美で育った伊勢さんのコメントと合わせて読んでいただければ、なおさら面白いかと思います。

自然に負けてられないなぁ、と思いますね。
ーアーティストはアキさんと被らないように……と気遣ってくれたんですが、まさかコメントが同じとは！ こちらも思わず筆を止めてポカンとしてしまいました。すかさず、そばでやりとりを聞いていたアキさんが「ポカリ！」と頭を叩く、子供のようなやりとりが。同じところで生まれ育つと、感性まで似てくるんでしょうか。

ー最初に「ルイ・プリマ！」と言ってくれましたが、悩みに悩んでランク外へ消えてしまいました。宮崎さんは、ヤマハの企画『大人を休む日』にて不定期で記事を書いておられましたが、コーナーそのものが終っちゃったんですね。キャッシュで見れると思いますので、是非検索してみてください。さらに深く掘り下げた話があります。

ーブルーズは宮崎さんかなぁ、と思っていましたが、宮永さんのが先でした。それで急遽宮崎さんはハウリン・ウルフに差し替えたんですけどね。妄想にせよ、3人のキングをまとめて……なんて贅沢です。他にも、ファンクにアフロにラテンに王道ロックと、まんべんないセレクションです。
とまぁ、スカだけで収まるはずもなかったスカ・フレイムスのルーツ。いかがでしたか？ 惜しまれるのは全員に聞けなかったこと。それでも、夏のライヴへ向けて、気分は十分あがります。フジまでにはまだまだ時間がありますので、さかのぼってチェックしてみてはいかがでしょうか。

This is some good stuff. It took me some time to locate this blog but it was worth the time. I noticed this website was buried in google and not the first spot.
